*Tom Haverfoods is the most fun thing to click through

*Buzzfeed did a great roundup of photos from 70's gay rights activism. Isn't is crazy that we're still fighting over this?

*This may be my favorite behind the scenes GoT shot ever...

*I am DYING over this Saved by the Bell quotes poster. Please. I need you.

*So I went a little Buzzfeed crazy. But everything is just so awesome. Like these illustrations of Parks & Rec characters dressed as superheros.

i am an ally

Thursday, March 28, 2013

For most of my life,  I've grown up with two aunts.  (Ashley, lots of people have two aunts, you say?)  Well mine are married.  (It's pretty awesome to be able to say that.)  Growing up, I never saw them as any different than the rest of us. I know them hand working, successful women who are funny, open, and incredibly loving. They're people who have the ability to bring a smile to just about anyone's face.  They hug you and you just know how much they mean it.  Their relationship is one that I hope to have with a partner of my own.  I adore them both.

I am an ally for them.

I am an ally for my best friends across the US, many of whom face discrimination daily because of their choice to love who they love, to dress how they're comfortable, to BE the people they were born to be, even in places that are not always supportive.

I am an ally for them.

This Tuesday, thousands of people across America showed their support for equality. My heart nearly exploded with pride for the wash of red that I saw across my Facebook newsfeed, and I found myself clicking back on throughout the day far more times than I would generally, just to see who else had taken a stand. That's not to say that I didn't also see some posts and pictures that let a little air out of my tires. It's easy to say that those people you see on TV are misguided and full of hate, but it's much harder to see the people you know and respect spouting the same backwards rhetoric.  But they were a minority.  And that's a win in Missouri.

Being liberal in the Midwest isn't always easy.  Being a  female, liberal, tree hugging, gay loving, athiest in the Midwest sometimes feels impossible.  But there are other times, times that are coming more frequently, when I find myself realizing that the tides are changing.  It's incredibly refreshing.

If you know me well, you know that my relationship with food is...well complicated.  I love it. I mean really, I loooove it.  But. (and there's always a but.) I am super picky, tend to hate things that others love, (don't even get me started on bacon.  gross.) and am generally so busy that I'm not always eating the things that are best for me.

I recently ran into a friend who's taken on a "life change" with her relationship with food, deciding to go vegan.  Life change.  Something about that really stuck with me.  While I'm not to the point of giving up meat and cheese...mmmm cheese.... I did think that it might be time for me to work toward my own mini life change when it came to food.

As many of you know, I am a proficient if not somewhat uninventive cook (probably goes back to that whole super picky, hates what others love thing,) who is daily striving toward becoming more domestic.  (Remember when I made my first pie crust?  I AM WOMAN.)  One of the things that I'm determined to do more often is to cook at home, and being the uninventive cook that I am, I plan to turn to the professionals, aka, the cookbook.  While I am generally drawn to the southern comfort foods most often, I've tried to expand my horizons with some more challenging recipes, and naturally, they've gotta have some killer food photography going on.  Duh.  Here are a few of my cookbook crushes...

Isn't this picture dreamy? I couldn't resist considering we're about to get half a foot of snow tomorrow.  It's supposed to be Spring right?  Welcome to the Ozarks!  Even it it's a little chilly, I've been dreaming of jamming out to some new windows-down-worthy tunes.  These are making me so very happy!  I'm trying something new out, y'all can listen to this mix on Spotify here.  While you're there, feel free to click around to some of my other mixes, (I admit, I'm mixtape obsessed :)  Enjoy!

Free Fonts Y'all!

Tuesday, March 12, 2013

Since I've started blogging, I've become mildly obsessed with fonts and typography.  There are COUNTLESS sites to browse from, I find that I can get lost for hours clicking away in search of the perfect font.  I love it when I can recognize a font from a campaign, or a blog I admire, but have yet to find that one special font for myself that is in my price range (i.e. free.)  It's not that I'm opposed to paying for fonts, but it always seems that the ones I really love are far too much for my tightwad self. That being said, I've been pretty obsessed with the fonts below... and can't wait to use them in the future! Do you have a favorite font or combination? I'd love to hear about them in the comments.  xoxo Fearsy

Spring is so close here in the Ozarks that you can nearly taste it, and I just can't wait y'all!  I'm an in-betweener, I love the Spring and Fall most of all, and this winter just seems to be lasting forever.  In like a lion indeed. With warmer temperatures in the future and most of the kids on campus planning for Spring Break, I've been doing a lot of browsing and wishing for spring-like pretties... here are a few of them...

*Are y'all as obsessed with Girls as I am? Buzzfeed did a great roundup of some of Hannah's best quotes...

* Speaking of Girls, Vulture has created paper dolls of all of the characters. (The episode where Shoshana accidentally does crack is easily one of the greatest 30 minutes on television.) I love them. I love Vulture. It's a big 'ole lovefest over here.

*I am LOVING this song by Kacey Musgraves. Can't wait for her whole album!

*OH MY WORD....RON. (Thanks Kaelah for sharing this!)

*Speaking of P&R I finally caught up on a couple of past episodes... Leslie & Ben are the BEST love story. It's possible that I literally sobbed with happiness. And that this photo alone makes me misty. It's definitely possible.

*I want to have these amazing subway tiles in my kitchen SO badly. It would make your morning breakfast so cheerful!

Papa Smurf gets a little emo...

Monday, March 04, 2013

Do you ever find yourself looking at all of the different outfit posts from bloggers and just think, how do they do it?  I certainly do.  I've loved flipping through different blogs and seeing outfit ideas, places to shop, and fun pairings of items, but sometimes, as I go about planning my own posts, I feel like I can never seem to get my stuff together at the right time.  I'm just as much a lover of dresses and Modcloth as the next girl, but more often than not, you'll catch me in jeans and a t-shirt than heels and pretty updos.  It's a constant struggle, wanting so badly to be as effortlessly adorable as my favorite bloggers, but trying to be real with y'all too.  So this time, I'm sharing with y'all my Sunday errands and whiskey-mash making ensemble complete with beanie to cover up slightly greasy hair and glasses.  Not entirely glamorous, but totally me.

*My brother brought it to my attention that I looked like a mix between Papa Smurf and a skater kid as we were out and about today, both of which I am decidedly not.  But I still love my hat. Papa Smurf rocks.
